Preventative Dental Visits for Children

Regular checkups and cleanings help keep your child's teeth and gums healthy and catch small problems before they grow.

Our Preventative Visit

We examine your child's teeth, gums, bite and jaw growth, gently clean away plaque and tartar, and talk with you about brushing, flossing, eating habits and thumb or pacifier habits.

Fluoride

Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel and helps prevent cavities. We may recommend professional fluoride treatment when your child's cavity (caries) risk is high or extreme, based on the dentist's risk assessment.

Dental sealants

Dental sealants are thin protective coatings placed on the chewing surfaces of back teeth. They are recommended for everyone, usually based on how deep the grooves are or the shape of the teeth, which is primarily genetic and developmental.

X-rays when needed

X-rays are taken only when needed to see between teeth and below the gumline.

How often should my child visit

Many children benefit from a checkup and cleaning about every six months. We will recommend a schedule that fits your child's needs.

Why early prevention matters

Starting regular visits early helps your child feel comfortable at the dentist and build healthy habits for life.
